![]() Our law-bytes Our law-bytes are short notes about English law and legal practice. We hope they are at the same time both clear and digestible, but detailed enough to be worth reading. We have been producing them since about 1990. Please take great care before applying the general advice in our law-bytes to your own circumstances. Situations differ, and many factors in any particular will colour and often change our advice. The law changes all the time, and we cannot keep all the law-bytes updated. Each law-byte has a date at the bottom. It cannot reflect changes in the law after that date, and may not be up to date for that date. Law-bytes do not to replace face to face advice, but supplement it. When we write to a client after a meeting, law-bytes often reduce the length and cost of such letters. They are useful to remind clients of what was discussed, and sometimes to raise issues we may have missed. Some of these law-bytes lead a dual life, as both web pages, and as documents intended to be given to clients in particular circumstances. They may, therefore, read strangely as web pages. I hope they remain of interest. We always welcome feedback. The range of law-bytes is expanding rapidly, but we particularly welcome suggestions for topics which might be included in future. We tend to write a law-byte 'as the mood takes us.' This is usually when we seem to be repeating advice to clients. We welcome suggestions from clients and from visitors to these pages for new topics. |
