The law-index provides a substantial selection taken from the full lawindexpro database. The cases here are restricted in number by date and some of the additional facilities available within lawindexpro are disabled here. Lawindexpro has over 104,500 case listings, with links to more than 95,000 full text decisions. It holds 36,000 case summaries, and 27,000 cross links between decisions. The earliest cases are from the thirteenth century, and on many days the latest judgments come on line the day they are handed down.

Nevertheless, please do enjoy this free version of the lawindex. Case law does not 'belong' to lawyers. Judgments are made up of words which can be read and understood (if not always easily) by most people. The more people who see the high quality of reasoning employed by judges, and occasionally the unmistakable spark of genius, the more thay can perhaps feel some respect for the law.

Whilst these pages are under development, the range of cases is substantially restricted to facilitate testing.

The total number of cases listed is: 76945
