Police in the UK are planning to use unmanned spy drones, controversially deployed in Afghanistan, for the "routine" monitoring of antisocial motorists, protesters, agricultural thieves and fly-tippers, in a significant expansion of covert state surveillance.

Big Brother indeed!

I think we have moved beyond BIg Brother into a new dimension, it is now a true Military Police State.

One wonders exactly how they are going to afford it.

Oh God, the streets are not safe to walk and my Tractor has been stolen. Why do the Government allow this? What is the solution, help, they don't care!

*Cut to Government inventing flying thing*

Oh God the streets are not safe to walk, some flying machine is eyeing up my tractor. I don't feel safe, please I can't cope, let the thieves have my tractor, I can't be doing with the flying thing. This is such an invasion of my right to walk down the street obeying the law. Its only a matter of time before obeying the law becomes illegal and then I'm in for it. This such a Police state. I know the Government allow more access to know what they are doing than ever. They, also allow me more access to information held regarding me. Yet, my distrust only grows stronger. How long before the flying thing look in my pants and broadcasts that I have a small penis?

I fully expect the Government to use and develop technologies that will assist in fighting crime. I have read most of the comments from the link and almost all of them seems to be a knee-jerk reaction with no substance as to the real nature of their concerns.

One distressing aspect of this is the way the government actually uses this to make us all afraid. We have adverts on the licenses and benefits where they say 'we know who you are and will get you'

It is despicable.

DLS those adverts are for people evading the TV licence and benefit fraud. Do you suggest the Government takes a watered down stance on this matters? Surely, unless we fear being caught then we run the risk of fraud on a much bigger scale? Which, will add to the nation debt and sink us that little bit faster.

You reply also doesn't in anyway relate to the flying thing. The lack of tangible arguments here leads me to believe it is more paranoia than anything else.

They carry the sub-text that 'we know everything about you'.

I have defended hundreds of people for these offences. Generally the ones caught by these provisions are the poorest and weakest members of society.

They remain despicable because they do try to work by putting us all in fear.
